Vinyl Wrap Details: Films, Finishes and Care
A vinyl wrap is a thin, durable film applied over a vehicle’s paint to change its color, finish or graphics without a permanent paint job. IKON Edition installs vinyl wraps in Laguna Hills on cars, trucks, motorcycles and more, for drivers and businesses across Orange County. With proper care, a professional wrap typically lasts 5 to 7 years.
Cast vs. calendered vinyl
Not all vinyl is the same. Premium cast films are thin and stable, so they stretch around mirrors, bumpers and deep curves without shrinking back, and they hold their color longer. Calendered films are thicker and more economical, and they work best on flat surfaces such as lettering or simple graphics. For full wraps on curved panels we use premium cast films.
Finishes
- Gloss: a paint-like shine in solid or metallic colors.
- Satin and matte: a modern, low-sheen look.
- Color-shift: colors that change with the viewing angle.
- Textured: carbon fiber and brushed metal finishes.
- Chrome and specialty films: for a high-impact statement.
- Printed graphics: custom designs printed in-house.
Brands we install
We work with films from industry leaders including 3M, Avery Dennison, KPMF, XPEL and EVOLV. We bring samples to the consultation so you can see each color and finish in person before you decide.
Caring for a vinyl wrap
- Hand-wash with a wrap-safe soap and a soft microfiber mitt.
- Avoid brush car washes and keep a pressure washer away from film edges.
- Clean bird droppings, tree sap and fuel spills promptly.
- Park in the shade or a garage when you can to limit sun exposure.

Common questions
Will a wrap damage my paint? On factory paint in good condition, no. The film protects the paint and comes off cleanly. Repainted or damaged surfaces can lift when the film is removed, so we check the paint first.
Can I wrap a leased vehicle? Yes. Wraps are popular on leased vehicles because they protect the factory paint and can be removed before the lease ends.
Is it covered by a warranty? Coverage depends on the film you choose. Ask us about warranty coverage for your film and installation when you request a quote.
